Cubs, Scouts, School, Football, Church, Sparklets, Nurseries – we’ve lost count of the many ways we and our kids enjoy, are part of, and are nurtured by our community. We have always tried to put as much back as we take and when the first seeds for this project were planted our first priority was to think through what we could contribute that wasn’t there already.
The desperate need for investment in infrastructure at the school was obvious to us. The community orchard idea has been around and discussed in a number of groups – like Transition Minch – for years and some funding has existed since 2011 but no landowner has been prepared to donate land, time and effort. We saw this as a way we could put back and give a lasting gift to Minchinhampton allowing growth of the community we love.
This community has many strands – we’d like all voices to be heard, not just the loudest. Please share your views with the planners.
